Salmi salvages bronze for Odisha in Youth Natl Meet

Salmi Kispotta salvaged some consolation for Odisha by winning one bronze medal in girls discus throw event on the last day of the 13th National Youth Athletics Championship, which concluded at Kozhikode in Kerala today. She finished third with an effort of 36.61 metre.

This was the only medal a nine-member Odisha squad, comprising three boys and six girls, could get from the three-day meet. This was also the second time within a month that Odisha athletes put up disappointing performance in a National meet. Earlier, an eight-member state squad failed to win a single medal in the 14th Federation Cup Junior National Athletics Championship, held at Bengaluru from May 3 to 5.
